Three-legged white oak table

ThisĀ  little table was made from part of a very large warped gnarly piece of white oak which I laboriously cut and trimmed and planed into four separate workable pieces. The top of this table is beautiful, reflecting the tension within the tree at this point.

IMG_0901 IMG_0902Running a piece of wood like this through one’s equipment is a challenging proposition given the changes in direction which the grain in the wood makes. This one was a success!

The legs are made from a half log of black oak which I refigured on the table saw. The braces give it good strength and the fact that it is 3 legged allows it to set well on uneven floors. It measures 22″l x 19″w x 22 1/2″t. The price: $ 250.00. Please call or email for shipping or pickup arrangements.

This beautiful little table was recently placed in a good home on the Pere Marquette river in Baldwin, Michigan. We sat around it the other night drinking wine and eating snacks. It looked and acted great. I was worried that it wouldn’t be loved because I didn’t fill all the natural cracks in the top. It would not have looked good. The right decision!
