Craig often designs furniture, doors and cabinets for log homes, working with the natural edge of the wood to complement the rustic interior of kitchens and living spaces. Because of a strong background in building and remodeling, Out of the Woodworks has become known for its functional art and wooden accessories, such as bowls, spoons, boxes cutting boards, coat racks, pedestals and chairs and tables.Bureaus, closet space with rice paper doors, book shelves, bedroom cabinetry and beds with storage underneath also are staple for the home.
Our true love is in the area of art and sculpture. As an active artist, Craig has been a member of two arts councils, participated in regional competitions and won awards. He has work in various galleries and is presently working with two communities to do sculpture which will be exhibited in downtown spaces. Two major pieces have had a totem theme. Working with individuals or communities often involves traveling and meetings to determine the shape of a project.
For many years, Craig has made coffins, urns and memorials. As a result, much of his art is centered around the themes of death, grief and healing. The memorials in particular offer much room for creativity. Families are encouraged to participate in the process. Grief baskets, boxes, garden benches, are some examples of creative outlets for grief.
